Release Site Program
Have you been wanting to volunteer with the Northwoods Wildlife Center, but don’t have the time to do so? Do you own property here in northern Wisconsin that you would love to see more wildlife calling home? Then this is the volunteer opportunity that you have been waiting for! We are looking for volunteers that would offer the use of their property as a release site for rehabilitated Wisconsin native wildlife. We are looking for release sites for various species of mammals, birds, and reptiles. Due to the variety of wildlife we care for here at the center, we are in need of release sites of various sizes and habitat types.
When filling out an application, you will be able to state species of preference and species you do not wish to be released on your property. We do ask that you remain open to the types of animals that you would allow on your property. Each property will need to pass an evaluation in order to ensure that it would be a suitable habitat for the species you have approved or requested. How often and what we release on your property will depend on the results of the evaluation.
Releasing wildlife is oftentimes the most rewarding aspect of wildlife rehabilitation, but it is also a very important part of what we do here at the center. Picking proper release sites increases our patient’s ability to survive after completing rehabilitation. We would appreciate all of your support in the completion of the final stage of rehabilitation! If you are interested, please complete the online application.
