Annual Canoe Raffle

Bill Bjork, Master Canoe Builder from Boulder Junction, with the 2013 Canoe (a work in progress) in his workshop

For those of you who love the water, love beautiful craftsmanship, or maybe know someone else who does, we have great news for you! It is time again for our annual canoe raffle and this beautiful 12-foot wooden canoe could be yours!

This year’s canoe was handcrafted by a local Master Boat Builder,  Bill Bjork from Boulder Junction, Wisconsin.

The 12-foot wooden canoe is constructed of light & dark cedar and weighs roughly 40 pounds. There are also watertight storage compartments at the front and the back. You can use the canoe, and the accompanying paddle, to float down the river or you can set up this beautiful canoe in your living room for everyone to admire!

The 2013 Annual Canoe Raffle tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. They are on sale anywhere the Northwoods Wildlife Center Staff are traveling this summer and fall. For the next several months you can find us at many local fairs and festivals educating people about the animals who make our Northwoods home.

You can also purchase tickets at the Northwoods Wildlife Center in Minocqua, 8683 S Blumenstein Road (across from Trig’s). While there you can also get a free tour of the center. Raffle tickets are also available at the Minocqua Chamber of Commerce.

The winning ticket will be drawn Saturday October 19th  4 p.m. at the Northwoods Wildlife Center as part of the Center’s Annual Appreciation event to recognize the hard work of the staff and volunteers and to thank its many members and donors for their support throughout the season.  You do not need to be present to win the canoe.

Please remember that all proceeds go towards caring for injured and orphaned wildlife here in the Northwoods. If you purchase a ticket not only do you have a chance at owning a functional work of art, but you also help some of the animals that call this area home.
